Local or online: what to ask before you choose
Whichever you are weighing, a few plain questions can show you how care would work from one visit to the next.

Questions Worth Asking Any Provider
When you start looking for psychiatric care, local practices and national online services can show up side by side. A search page rarely tells you how care will feel once it starts. The details that shape it tend to be practical ones, and you can ask about them wherever you look.
I am not here to steer you one way or the other. Below are questions you can put to any practice or service you are considering, followed by my own answers, so you have something concrete to compare. Use them with every option, mine included.
- Where is the provider based, and which states do they see clients in?
- Will I see the same person at every appointment?
- Can I be seen in person if I want to?
- How does follow-up work, and how often?
- What does each visit cost, and are the fees posted?
Comparing Your Options
A simple way to weigh your choices side by side.

- 1
Decide What Matters to You
Maybe it is one familiar provider, an office within reach, or care that fits around work. Write down your top two or three.
- 2
Ask Everyone the Same Questions
Put the questions above to each practice or service you are considering, and note the answers so the comparison stays fair.
- 3
Have a First Conversation
Hearing a provider answer in their own words tells you more than a website can. My free 15-minute phone consult is for exactly that, and the next step is up to you.
How My Practice Answers
Here are my answers to the same questions, so you can hold them up against others.
Based in Minot
My office is at 700 Western Ave SW, Suite 100, in Minot. I see clients in person there and by telehealth in North Dakota and Iowa.
The Same Provider Each Time
Dakota Psychiatric Care has one provider, and that is me. I do your evaluation and every follow-up session, so your history stays with one person.
How Follow-Up Works
Follow-up sessions run 30 to 45 minutes and review progress, symptoms and how a medication is working. How often you have them depends on your plan.
Posted Fees and Evenings
My fees are listed on the Fees page, so you can compare them before booking. Evening appointments are available on request.
Choosing What Fits Your Life
There is no single right answer. A national online service and a local practice can each suit different needs, and only you know which details matter most in your week. Asking the same questions everywhere is the fairest way to see the differences for yourself.
If an office you can visit, one provider who knows your history, or evening appointments on request matter to you, those are things my practice can offer. Some of the communities I serve are a real drive from Minot, particularly in winter, which is why telehealth is available too.
Questions About Choosing a Provider
Do I have to live near Minot to see you?
Not at all. Telehealth is available in North Dakota and Iowa, and the Minot office is there if you would like to come in.
