Who This Is For

Trauma doesn't have to be one dramatic event, and it doesn't have to be recent. It can be a hard birth, an accident, years of stress at home, or things you saw at work.

You might have nightmares or memories that arrive uninvited. You might be on guard all the time, avoiding places or people, or feeling far away from your own life.

If you are unsure how to begin, you can describe a present-day concern rather than trying to summarize every experience at once. What has become harder at work, at home, or in relationships? You can also bring questions about what an evaluation involves and how different options would be discussed before deciding on a next step.

You Decide How Much to Share

You won't be asked to tell the whole story before you are ready. The evaluation needs enough of your history to plan well, and you can say "I'd rather not get into that today" at any point.

My approach is collaborative and free of judgment. I want you to feel heard, valued and supported, whatever brought you in.

Questions About Trauma Care

Do I have to talk about what happened?

Only as much as you choose. We can work on what is affecting you now without going through every detail.

Can medication help with PTSD?

It is sometimes part of a plan, and people respond differently. We go over the options and decide together whether it makes sense for you.

Can my evaluation be by telehealth?

Yes, in North Dakota or Iowa.
