Who This Is For

This care is for women who are pregnant or who have recently had a baby and do not feel like themselves. You might recognize one of these:

  • You expected to feel joy and mostly feel worry, sadness or nothing much at all.
  • You have a history of depression or anxiety and want support during this pregnancy.
  • Your baby came early or needed intensive care, and you are still bracing for the next bad news.
  • Someone who loves you has said they are worried, and you are starting to wonder too.

What We Work On

Perinatal mental health is my primary specialty. It covers more than the weeks after delivery.

During Pregnancy

Mood, worry or a history of depression or anxiety that you want looked at before the baby arrives.

Postpartum Depression and Anxiety

Sadness, dread or constant worry after birth that does not match what you expected to feel, or that is not lifting.

After a High-Risk Birth

The weeks and months after a premature delivery, a NICU stay or caring for a medically fragile infant, when the fear can outlast the emergency.

Why This Work Is Personal

I am the mother of a baby born at just 26 weeks. I have lived the challenges and uncertainties that can come with a high-risk birth and with caring for a medically fragile infant.

That experience deepened my understanding of how much emotional support matters for mothers and families, and it strengthened my passion for maternal mental health. You should feel seen, heard and supported here, however your birth went.

What We Work Toward

I can't promise how quickly anyone will feel different, and everyone's course is their own. What we work toward is a clear understanding of what is happening, a plan you helped shape, and steady attention to your brain health and overall wellness during a season when your own needs tend to come last.

You also get someone who will keep asking how you are doing, not only how the baby is doing.

Questions About Perinatal Care

An adult woman speaking by phone on her front steps.
How do I know if this is postpartum depression or just exhaustion?

Sorting that out is part of what the evaluation is for.

My baby was born months ago. Is it too late?

No. Plenty of what comes after a birth shows up later, and a hard birth can stay with you long after the hospital.

Can I do this from home with the baby?

Yes. Telehealth is available in North Dakota and Iowa, and evening appointments are available on request.

What if I am having thoughts of harming myself or my baby?

Please call or text 988 or call 911 now. This site is not an emergency service, and you deserve help right away.
