Thoughts Like These

  • I should be happy, and I'm not.
  • I can't stop checking on the baby.
  • I don't feel like myself anymore.
  • Everyone says it gets easier. When?

If any of that is close, it is worth a conversation.

Who This Page Is For

Mothers in the days, weeks or months after birth. Maternal mental health is the center of my practice, because emotional support matters so much for mothers and families in these months.

You might be home with a healthy baby and still feel low or frightened. You might have been through a premature delivery or a hard recovery. Both belong here.

What We Look At Together

Postpartum depression and anxiety can look different from one mother to the next.

Mood

Sadness, numbness, irritability, or a sense that you are going through the motions.

Worry

Fear that won't settle, racing thoughts, or constant checking on the baby.

Your Body and Sleep

How much you are sleeping, eating and recovering, and how that is affecting your brain health.

Support at Home

Who is helping, who is not, and what would make the next few weeks more manageable.

Getting Started With a New Baby

Care should fit into a life that already has very little room in it.

What Care Is Aiming For

I can't tell you how long this will last for you. I can tell you what we work on: understanding what is happening, building a plan you agree with, and looking after your overall wellness along with the baby's.

Asking for help is part of caring for your family. You deserve to feel seen, heard and supported on the way through this.

Questions About Postpartum Care

How soon after birth can I reach out?

It is never too early, and it is never too late.

Can I bring the baby to the appointment or do this from home?

Telehealth lets you be at home. If you would like to bring your baby to the Minot office, please ask.

What if I have thoughts of harming myself or my baby?

Call or text 988 or call 911 right now. You deserve help immediately, and this site is not an emergency service.
