Worry That Arrives Later
Worry can arrive later in life even if you never thought of yourself as an anxious person, or an old habit of worrying can grow louder with time. It may center on your health, on money, on living alone, or on becoming a burden to the people around you.
These concerns are real, and some have practical answers. It may be time to talk with someone when the worry takes up more of your day than you want it to, wakes you early, or keeps you from things you used to enjoy.
Geriatric mental health is one of my specialties, and my nursing background in long-term care is part of why. You can expect an unhurried conversation and plain explanations, with your brain health and overall wellness kept in view.
Worries That Can Grow With Age
The evaluation looks at what the worry is about and what it is doing to your days.
Health and the Body
Worry about symptoms, tests or falls, and how much of your day goes to checking, waiting and wondering what comes next.
Money and Being a Burden
Fear of running short, needing help, or asking too much of others, even when you are managing well.
Living Alone and Change
A quieter house, a move, giving up the car keys, or other changes that make the future feel less certain.
Medications Side by Side
Whether psychiatric medication makes sense next to what you already take is a fair question, and it is one we look at together.
A Realistic Aim
I won't tell you a plan will make every worry go away, and I won't guess at how long things take. What we work toward is a clearer sense of what is driving the worry, a plan that fits alongside the rest of your health, and steady check-ins so the plan can change when your needs do.
Some worry about real changes is part of life at any age, and it is not a failing. The aim is for worry to take up less room, so there is more space for the people, routines and plans that matter to you.
How We Begin
Care starts with a conversation and moves at a pace that suits you.

- 1
A Free 15-Minute Consult
A short phone conversation about what has been worrying you, with time for your questions about how care works.
- 2
Your Initial Evaluation
60 to 90 minutes, at the Minot office or by telehealth, with time for a full picture of your health. A written list of everything you take helps us see how it all fits.
- 3
Follow-Up Sessions
30 to 45 minutes to review how the worry is affecting your days, check how any medication is working with the rest of what you take, and adjust the plan.
Fees in Brief
Questions about worry later in life can start with the 15-minute phone consult, which is free. An evaluation is $300 after that, and a follow-up is $125.

Questions About Anxiety Later in Life
Is it normal to worry more as I get older?
Getting older can bring real reasons to worry. If the worry is crowding out sleep, plans or the people you enjoy, it is worth talking through.
Will we talk about the medications I already take?
Yes. Your other medications are part of the conversation, so bring a list. Any decision about psychiatric medication is one we make together.
What if worry makes it hard to leave the house?
You can have your evaluation by telehealth from a private spot at home, in North Dakota or Iowa. Evening appointments are available on request.
