Care for You, Not Only the Baby

Perinatal mental health is my primary specialty. It covers pregnancy, the weeks and months after birth, and the long stretch that can follow a high-risk birth. In those months, it can feel as if every question is about the baby. Here, the questions are about you too.

Together we work toward three things: understanding what is going on, a plan that feels like yours, and care for your brain health and overall wellness while your days revolve around someone small. I can't say how long this will take, and I won't guess. We check in as we go and change the plan when it needs changing.

For Mothers in Bismarck and Mandan

Bismarck and Mandan sit on either side of the Missouri River, south of Minot, and both are a real drive from my office. Late in pregnancy, or with a newborn in the back seat, that drive can feel like too much. Telehealth lets you have your evaluation from home, and the Minot office is there if you would rather come in person.

You might be pregnant and more anxious or low than you expected to feel. You might be home with a baby and not recognize yourself, or still shaken by a premature delivery or a NICU stay. You can describe it however it comes out, and that is enough to start.

What We Can Work On Together

Perinatal care here reaches from pregnancy through the months after birth.

Worry or Low Mood in Pregnancy

Anxiety, sadness or a history of depression that you want looked at before the baby arrives, so you are not carrying it alone.

Postpartum Depression

Low mood after birth that stays, a flat or numb feeling, or days that feel like a list of tasks to get through.

Postpartum Anxiety

Worry that won't settle, racing thoughts about the baby's safety, or checking again and again even when you know all is well.

Life After a High-Risk Birth

The fear and exhaustion that can linger after a premature delivery, a NICU stay or months of caring for a medically fragile infant.
